I don't subscribe to sports team hatred, it's just not how I'm wired. But, if there's one team that I hope never wins anything ever again, it would be the Houston Astros.
I'm actually, weirdly, an Astros apologist, lol. I don't think the trash cans mattered that much, and they've proven since that they were good enough to win without it. But then again, maybe I just like them because they have reliably beaten the Yankees in the playoffs ;)
Great read! I think the Astros will come around. They have a Pythagorean record of 9-14 (2 games better than their actual record) and have played more games against teams with a record >.500 (20) than all teams except the White Sox & Mets. They've also been victim to falling on the wrong side of 1-run games (0-6). I have to imagine some of that bad luck and variance will swing back their way at some point. It'd help if they got some of their pitching off the IL though.
The fact that they never really needed the trash cans is part of why it bothers me so much! They were great without the whole scheme, so why risk it??
